Crafting Consistency: Chief Product Language
Empowering Female Leaders Through Design Transformation
Description
Chief aimed to empower female leaders through a digital platform but faced challenges of inconsistency and accessibility. Our mission was to create a design system translating brand elements into a user-friendly experience.
Problem
Navigating Limited Resources and Fragmented Components
Our task was to establish a cohesive design language for Chief's platform, prioritizing accessibility. With limited resources and disparate components, we aimed to streamline design and development while ensuring usability for diverse users.
Challenges
Overcoming Resource Constraints and Component Complexity
We tackled the project with minimal dedicated resources, including one engineer and limited designer availability. Overcoming a plethora of duplicated and outdated components across web and mobile platforms posed additional hurdles.
Process
Iterative Crafting of a Unified Design Language
We initiated by defining a creative direction and standardizing typography and colors for both platforms. Iteratively, we crafted components with multiple variants, ensuring usability, functionality, and consistency. Quality assurance and iterative releases ensured smooth integration and user acceptance.
Validation
Validating User-Centric Design Solutions
While full user testing was constrained by time, we validated components with key user groups and tracked feedback through support channels to refine our approach continually.
Results
Transforming Detachment into Engagement
Our efforts resulted in a robust design system with seven dedicated libraries and over 750 accessible components. The introduction of the Chief Product Language reduced detachment rates from 60% to under 3%, culminating in a streamlined and user-centric platform experience.
